Approval Plan and Standing Order Procedures
As you know, Majors has access to five warehouses. Since December 2005 our Approval Plan library customers and Standing Order bookstore customers have received their shipments out of our Bridgewater, New Jersey distribution center. When stock in Bridgewater was depleted, backorders were created. The Approval Plan process did not include "shopping" the other warehouses. With our new procedures and processes, you will now receive shipments from our other warehouses. This will greatly cut down on the amount of backorders you receive - and get the orders to your door much faster! All backordered titles will appear on your monthly Backorder Report, and if your account is coded to not accept backorders, you will receive an acknowledgement if we cannot supply a requested title.
This new procedure will not eliminate all backorders, but should greatly reduce them. In fact, in just the last two weeks we have been able to supply more than 90% of the titles that would have resulted in a backorder.
