J.A. Majors Company is actively preparing for the transition of the ISBN-13 compliance that will be complete well ahead of the 2007 deadline.

Starting Jan. 1, 2007, all general retailers must meet the ISBN-13 compliance. The transition is taking place to standardize product numbering and expand the current ISBN system.

When the transition is complete, libraries will be able to search by both ISBN-10 and ISBN-13. A date has not been set concerning mandatory use of ISBN-13s for ordering, and will be set for mid-2007 at the earliest.
