With Dorothy Hill's permission J.A. Majors continues to mark new editions to the last published Brandon/Hill Lists? It is true that no new titles are being added to the Brandon/Hill Lists. But, in Dorothy's words: As long as librarians continue to value the Brandon/Hill titles as a collection development tool, Majors has my permission to update the Lists!

At the time of Dorothy Hill's retirement and the request of Al McClendon, Nicki Carter, Manager of Medical Library Services & Sales, began coding titles for "Nicki's Picks- New and Noteworthy Titles." Nicki's Picks not only includes titles from the Brandon/Hill Lists, but also those first-edition titles that are sure to be of interest.

Titles considered for "Nicki's Picks are new editions of previously published texts, major new texts in clinical subject categories, monographs in current research efforts, and texts in emerging biomedical fields. Allied Health, Nursing, and Medical categories are included. Nicki examines the actual material as to the reputation of the author and publisher, comparative cost with competitive titles, unique features of the book, audience level, and usefulness of bibliographies and references. Quality of paper, binding, illustrations, and indexing is also considered. Titles are selected from the newest publications most recently received in Majors' warehouse and listed in the Weekly New Book Receipts.

Brandon/Hill updates and Nicki's Picks can be found in the Advanced Search section of Majors' web site, www.majors.com. Quarterly updates of both Lists are listed in The Majors Report for the Medical Librarian. Customers may also choose to receive weekly emails of titles chosen for Nicki's Picks and the Brandon/Hill updates.
